October 16, 2024Roger That Podcast Ep 25: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
It’s October, which means it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. So chances are, you know at least one person who has been personally affected by breast cancer.
But there is hope. The National Breast Cancer Foundation says when caught in its earliest, localized stages, the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%. Advances in early detection and treatment methods have significantly increased breast cancer survival rates in recent years, and there are currently over 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.
And today on Roger That, you are going to hear from one of those 3.8 million survivors. Army veteran, Nicki, who has received help from HVAF, was diagnosed in 2021 but thankfully, is now a survivor! You will also hear from her case manager, Cherelle, who helped her during her battle and is still helping her with everything she needs today.
