Message from the CEO: Recapping the Busy Kick Off to the Legislative Session
February 12, 2025Roger That Podcast Season 3 Episode 2 – Creating lasting smiles!

New Episode Alert!
Welcome back to season three of Roger That, a podcast presented by HVAF!
Today, we’ll be spotlighting Army and National Guard veteran Gilbert—better known as Gibby. Gibby’s story is one of resilience, as he’s faced challenges that would seem insurmountable to many of us. For most of his adult life, Gibby has battled multiple sclerosis, a condition that wasn’t diagnosed until much later in life. This late diagnosis left him navigating the physical toll of the disease, including loss of mobility and vision, as well as the personal impact of losing most of his teeth due to dental and degenerative complications.
But Entering HVAF’s housing program was a turning point for Gibby, Gibby found some stability, and thanks to the dedication of our healthcare navigator, Lucy, a remarkable transformation began that gave him some confidence along with his newfound stability. Lucy worked closely with Gibby to find a clinic that could help with his dental needs and found him a non-cost denture treatment. Not only did Lucy coordinate those efforts, but she also drove Gibby to every single appointment, ensuring he received the care and support he needed. The result? A full set of dentures, a renewed sense of confidence, and, as Gibby puts it, “his smile back.”
Later in the episode, we’ll also hear from the dentist who made this possible, Dr. Kate Gribbon, as she shares insights on the impact of Gibby’s recovery and how it feels to be part of such a life-changing moment.
Stay tuned, because this is a story of hope, compassion, and the way your support empowers HVAF to truly make a difference in the lives of our veterans. Let’s dive in!
