HVAF expands services to Terre Haute
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Terre Haute – HVAF – Helping Veterans And Families – is now offering employment services for veterans in West Central Indiana.
Currently, HVAF serves homeless and at-risk veterans, and their families, throughout Central Indiana. As part of its strategic plan, HVAF committed to targeted expansion into new key areas in the state. One of the identified areas is Terre Haute, given the reportedly high number of unemployed and underemployed veterans in the area.
HVAF has launched a two-year pilot program with partners Intecare, an organization that provides housing services, and Reach Services, a Terre Haute-based nonprofit that serves low-income individuals and families, by embedding a full-time employment specialist with their housing team.
“We are pleased to partner with Intecare and Reach Services to add a much-needed employment component to the services available for veterans in West Central Indiana,” HVAF CEO Emmy Hildebrand said. “Reach serves nearly 100 veterans annually and our partnership will ensure veterans are better positioned to maintain their permanent housing.”
The employment specialist will provide one-on-one career counseling by offering the following services: resume creation, interview prep, financial planning and career placement. In 2023, HVAF’s Employment Team provided employment services to 297 veterans in Central Indiana.
About HVAF: Helping Veterans And Families (HVAF) helps homeless veterans return to self-sufficiency and engages at-risk veterans and their families to prevent them from becoming homeless by providing supportive housing, case management, employment support, therapy, and basic needs including food, hygiene, and clothing. In 2023, HVAF served 1,349 veterans and provided over 37,000 life-changing services.
