January 23, 2023Message from COO: 2022 Outcomes & Black History Month
February 7, 2023Meet Team HVAF: Mallory
We are so thankful to have Mallory as the VetWorks Employment Specialist and Workforce Development Intake Specialist for HVAF! Get to know Mallory:
How long have you worked at HVAF?
A little over a year!!
How are you specifically helping the VetWorks program?
I started out at HVAF by working with both the Workforce Development Team and the VetWorks team as I assist with intake of all veterans entering employment service but moved over to officially be apart of the VetWorks team in April/May of 2022. I started case management with the VetWorks program in Fall of 2022 and now have a small caseload of Phase 1 VetWorks participants. I continue to conduct employment assessments and intakes for both teams.
What excites you the most about the VetWorks program?
The most exciting part is that veterans are given the ability to work towards a career change or new skillset for self-sufficiency in the future. They are supported and given the chance to work on soft skills and hard skills with ZERO judgment and amazing support from the VetWorks team.
Why do you like serving our veterans?
I have always had a passion to serve others and believe that housing and the ability to work is a basic human right, but to be able to assist veterans with housing and employment is truly an honor. I love how no one veteran is alike and that we have the chance to connect with some amazing individuals.
When you are not working at HVAF, where can we find you?
When not at HVAF I am usually with my dog and partner Anna! We love taking road trips across the US and camping and hope to travel outside of the country in the next year. I love coffee, my friends, and being happy!
Anything else you want to share?
I am thankful for HVAF and my amazing team who makes work easy and fun. Being on a team of truly unique and amazing people pushes me to try harder and do better every day.
