Stand Down 2026: A Day of Impact For Our Hoosier Heroes
This year’s Stand Down event, one of the largest veteran resource fairs in the state yielded remarkable results, further demonstrating the strength of collective community action in supporting veterans of Central Indiana. Held on September 10 at the Indiana National Guard Armory, the event brought together a broad coalition of service providers, volunteers, and community members, all dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of those who have served our country.
With 52 vendors offering critical services ranging from healthcare to housing, the event served 149 veterans, along with four spouses and guests. The turnout highlighted not only the ongoing need for accessible care but also the willingness of the community to show up for our local heroes. Additionally, 83 volunteers and guests stepped forward to lend their time, energy, and compassion, ensuring the success of the event.
One of the most impactful outcomes from the event was the success of the surge housing initiative in partnership with the VA. It was through this initiative that 16 homeless veterans received housing assistance that very same day.
“It’s really great to see the community come together in one place like this for veterans in need,” said Army veteran Rev, one of the veterans in attendance.
At HVAF, our mission is driven by the belief that every veteran deserves safety, stability, and respect. This event not only highlights our ability to connect veterans to essential resources but also showcases the power of our Hoosier community in creating positive change. Thank you to everyone who played a part in making a difference at Stand Down!
