Engaging with Andrea: The 12 Memories of Christmas!
January 8, 2026Turning The Page To 2026!

We’ve turned the calendar to 2026, and as I think about the next 12 months, it’s going to be another big year at HVAF. With your continued support, we will keep moving forward in our mission to end veteran homelessness in Indianapolis.
We have not completed our 2025 outcomes to fully report the impact we made in 2025, but I do know that we will report a record number of services provided that changed the lives of Hoosier veterans. Stay tuned for more data, but in the meantime, please accept my gratitude for your partnership.
Because of you, hundreds of Hoosier veterans received the support needed to achieve self-sufficiency.
* I am excited to share with you that we exceeded VA grant performance metrics for our transitional and rapid rehousing programs. We met and exceeded goals for the number of veterans served and the number of veterans permanently housed.
* Our Workforce Development programs continued to effectively serve veterans as well. VetWorks, our innovative work, learn, and earn program, saw record participation and hundreds of veterans received traditional employment support.
* Occupancy rates in our transitional and permanent housing units are nearly 100%.
* And our mental health team is picking up steam as we seek to add a second therapist to our staff.
While we celebrate this important work, there is so much to look forward to in 2026.

Progress on site of new pantry!
Reconstruction continues, and as we get closer to the finish line (August!), the Manchester Apartments renovation is taking shape. We used the new pantry storage space

South Tower Reconstruction
extensively this past holiday season, and today, the pantry space and 42 housing units are framed in the South Tower. The new roof is going on quickly, and soon the scars of the fire will be gone.
Our vision is taking shape, and before we celebrate another holiday season, we will house 65 veterans each night in Manchester Apartments and open a more functional pantry better equipped to meet the needs of Hoosier veterans.
Last year, we celebrated a 26% reduction in veteran homelessness in Indianapolis. Over the next few weeks, our community will join together to conduct the annual Point in Time (PIT) count to determine how many individuals are experiencing homelessness in our community. The 2026 PIT results won’t be available until this summer, but I am anxious to see the continued momentum as we work to ensure that no hero is homeless on our streets.
Welcome to 2026 and thank you for committing to another year on Team HVAF! Together, we will ensure that Hoosier veterans receive the support they deserve.
