We first met Army veteran Timothy when he participated in HVAF’s recovery program.
As with every veteran, we are always here for them. Even if they need to come back a few (or many) times for assistance.
Timothy reached out to HVAF again last month. After getting into some trouble, he needed to move out of his house. One of HVAF’s case managers, Erin, helped set him up with a storage unit so he could place his belongings there while he found his own housing.
He is waiting for approval to move into an apartment, and HVAF is ready to pay his deposit.
“HVAF has helped me more than I could even tell you because I wouldn’t know what to do,” Timothy said.
Recently, Timothy had the opportunity to attend Stand Down, HVAF’s 17th annual resource fair that provides services and goods for local veterans. 58 vendors were available for the 142 veterans that attended – including Timothy.
Timothy received helpful resources from local American Legion Auxiliary units, Indiana Veterans Affairs, Humana, Anthem, and many more. These vendors provided clothing, hygiene items, haircuts, and other necessary resources.
“It doesn’t feel like we (veterans) deserve as much stuff as we get,” Timothy said. “But it is nice that people care this much.”
You can help veterans such as Timothy receive housing, case management, and basic items such as food, clothing, and hygiene items. Please consider making a tax-deductible financial gift to HVAF today:
