March 25, 2020Precautions regarding COVID-19
As an organization whose goal is to help homeless and at-risk veterans and their families, it is our highest priority to protect both clients and staff to make sure that we limit any possibility of continuing the spread of the Novel Coronavirus, COVID-19.
With that in mind, we are not closing but we have decided to put some precautions in place in order to protect both our most vulnerable clients and staff.
If you have any questions regarding these precautions, feel free to reach out and we are happy to clarify these items.
The precautions are as follows:
a) The Hospitality Room will be closed through April 30.
b) Food pantry operations will be modified through April 30.
-
Veterans WILL be able to receive pre-packed food bags, which will be distributed outside the main entrance (on the loading dock) to minimize exposure risks.
-
Policies regarding emergency food will be relaxed and we will serve veterans as often as needed.
c) Clothing pantry operations will be modified through April 30.
-
Only emergency clothing will be distributed on request and delivered outside the main entrance (on the loading dock) to minimize exposure risks.
d) Volunteer activities (both groups and individuals) will be suspended through April 30 with selected by-name exceptions to assist with food and emergency clothing distribution.
e) Food donations will always be accepted but drop-offs will be restricted to outside the main entrance (on the loading dock) using bins and boxes.
f) Clothing donations will be suspended through April 30 except for new packaged items (underwear, socks, t-shirts).
g) We will be cleaning and disinfecting our lobby areas including all surfaces, door handles, light switches and chairs three times daily.
To help us prevent exposure to the virus, make sure to wash your hands, don’t touch your face and if you are sick, please stay home.
